In
the last years of the preceding millennium, Markovic creates a series
of paintings symbolically titled: "Notes from Chilandar".
Instead of Serbian ethnographic objects, his paintings depict treasures
from Chilandar, chalices, censers, cell windows. They are witnesses
of our spirituality and of our existence. They carry with them the silence
and mysticism of the Mount Athos monasteries. Of this Markovic's cycle,
Slobodan Mileusnic says: 'That is his prayer and his lepta (contribution)
which he gives to the eight centuries of Chilandar existence".
The time past and the time present are
fused into one. Future has begun and the paintings by Miloje Markovic
stand as witnesses of a time, which speaks about ourselves.
